A lesson that explores visions and divergent Christian responses following the new Edexcel B Beliefs in Action Spec. Activities and exam questions supplement the textbook published by OXFORD and written by Reid, G & Tyler S K. Lesson has 2 worksheets for students to complete. The end of the lesson ends in the writing of a D question with exam guidance.

This lesson allows students to read the Nicene/ Apostles creed and pick out key Christian teachings and keywords. I usually place students into groups to complete this task. In addition the Nicene Creed is the longest so I usually give this the more able students. Question sheets are provided to allow students to jot down their ideas. Once students have completed the various activities I allow students to create a personal creed. This lesson looks at divergent beliefs within Christianity. Literalist/ Non-literalist etc. Students are then encouraged to write a (d) 15 mark answer using the information from the lesson. An example paragraph/ quotations and suggested writing criteria is offered

The lesson looks at modern examples (found on YouTube) of: Speaking in tongues Charismatic healing Near Death Experience The lesson has clear differentiated outcomes and tasks throughout that support them. There's a strong focus upon a (d) style question at the end of the lesson complete with differentiated planning sheets and a model answer which is unpicked on the PowerPoint

This lesson looks at celebrations and commemorations in Islam following the new spec. Complete with worksheet and activities that supplement the OXFORD textbook. There's an opportunity for students to attempt a C question and self-assess it against a model answer.

A brief PowerPoint with a few activities for students to start to discuss the concept of the Soul. If you can get hold of The Simpsons: 'Bart Sells His Soul' this can be used to allow students to discuss different perceptions of what the soul means to different people.

A creative lesson that allows students to understand what the word parable means and why Jesus used parables to teach moral messages. The lesson has clear activities and outcomes. Students are encouraged to research a parable (A selection from the Bible are attached) and explain what they have learnt from the parable (there are a choice of activities ranging from drama to a newspaper article). Students also have the option to rewrite their own parable and give a moral message.
